FAQ

We plan each retreat for the grades outlined above and do our best to plan specifically for those in attendance. This affects content discretion in main sessions, seminar topics, workshop and activity selection. It is up to group leaders to determine if their youth in Grade 9 are more suited for the junior retreat or the senior retreat.

  • Sr. High Retreat: April 26th - 28th, 2024
    • Check-in begins at 1:00pm on Friday afternoon and ends Sunday at 1:00pm.
  • Jr. High Retreat: May 10th - 11th, 2024
    • Check-in begins at 1:00pm on Friday afternoon and ends Saturday at 5:00pm.

  • Our college dorms! There are 2 beds in each room so we encourage groups to bring extra mattresses (air or foamie) for the floor. We will place groups in dorms on a first-registered, first-served basis. YQ retreaters and youth workers will stay in our gender-specific dorms. Youth leaders are placed with their groups by default. We ask that you have 1 youth leader for every 7 youth.
  • If you require accessible accommodations, please contact us at yq@briercrest.ca.

  • Sleeping stuff (pillow, sleeping bag or blanket, air mattress or foamie)
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, towel, & soap)
  • Clothing (enough for 3 days & check the weather)

  • We only accept individual registrations for our Sr. High event.
    • For Sr. High, all individual registrations will be connected with a current Briercrest student and other individual retreaters to hang out with over the weekend!
    • For more information on individual registrations please visit our Registration FAQ’s.

Check out our sample schedule on the individual retreat pages!

Final schedules will be posted the week before both retreats.

Yes and no. Some activities require sign-up before the retreat begins but a majority are first-come, first-served throughout the weekend. Activity sign-ups will be posted on the group leader dashboard, on the website and on our socials when they become available.

Examples of activities that do NOT require sign-up: climbing wall, horses, art room, seminars, workshops, laser tag, and more!

Yep! We have a well-marked first aid center located at the center of our facilities.

Email us with any further questions you may have – yq@briercrest.ca.

We are unable to exclusively offer concert tickets at this time.

Our guests will alternate between meals in various locations around campus. All retreater and youth worker meals will be provided by our local catering provider, SODEXO. Check your retreater handbook upon arrival to review the meal location rotation. Your registration fee covers all meals over the course of the weekend but there will be other options available for purchase on campus.

What other options are there for food for purchase?

  • The Beacon - local coffee shop
  • Subway
  • Crossroads Cafe - SODEXO
  • Late Night Cafe - TESOL Fundraiser

If you have particular dietary restrictions let us know during the registration process and we will make sure something is available for you. All registrations with dietary restrictions will eat in the dining hall throughout the weekend and receive a special wristband to indicate any allergies to YQ staff.

There will be Youth Quake merchandise and band merchandise available for you to purchase throughout the weekend. Purchase your Youth Quake merch early in the weekend for the best selection and to avoid disappointment when we are out of stock. Band merch will only be available one hour before and after each artist's concert.

Your wristband is your ticket for the weekend and allows you to get into all events and meals. Without this wristband, you will be bored and hungry. Please go to the Here4U Booth to receive a replacement wristband.

Yep! There is designated parking for all vehicles, large and small, on campus for the weekend. Because of the large number of people attending Youth Quake, please keep your vehicle parked in the designated parking spot and walk around campus. We also ask that all youth leaders who are staying in community homes park their vehicles in the designated Youth Quake parking spots and not at the billet location. Please note that parking does not include plug-ins.
